“I shiver, thinking how easy it is to be totally wrong about people, to see one tiny part of them and confuse it for the whole.”

Opening on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, California is artist Jeffrey Cheung’s solo exhibition “In Unity.”
The smiling, androgynous characters at play in Cheung’s brightly colored paintings invite
the viewer to discard notions of gender. As many of the figures kiss, hold, and embrace
each other, boundaries between bodies become obscured begging the question ‘where
do I end and you begin?’ The result is an exuberant, body-positive unification of forms, a
celebration of queer joy and non-binary identities.
“In Unity” will be on view until June 23rd, 2018.
